Real life sh$%t  lesson one…

YOUNG, NAÏVE, she loved to daydream

Special, the kind you know, ideas, dreams

CONQUER the WORLD, an easy task,

Reality hits

That chapter done,

 the past

New chapter 16, she’s a MOTHER, The LOVE of her CHILD,

 like no other

Her family said “Your new home the street”, survival became PRIORITY,

 SCARED, ALONE, she believes LIES,

another line, pop a pill, he muffles her CRIES

serving Hard time, street education, learns fast, top of her game, they on a first at the STATION

, too bad at the bottom the top looks like PAIN,

she’s happiest when they make it rain (UMBRELLA)

she knows each day is bORROWed, Nobody cares if she wakes up TOMORROW

Life shows her

the stories were true, Your souls worth more in high heeled shoes

They are all around her, kids, lost, alone

No one to love them and n where to go

You gotta learn quick

the streets are hard, and fast, if you don’t keep up you will slip through the cracks

disappear, lose your mind and your baby, its life on the streets, each meal is a maybe

How do we change how do we stop and see, give her a hand, a meal,

maybe a warm place to sleep

her eyes reveal you and me

stop hiding from the truth its time we see

Here’s a dollar, ya, I’ve done my part go get a drink, shoot heroine just not near my park

Sure, I care, I gave didn’t I?

An hour later he buys a bad hit and he died,

oh well, I guess that’s life

Enrolled in hardknocks the school of the street

lesson one you better fight or be beat

Nothing is easy  life is hard and it hurts, to be on top you gotta get yours first

She fought until she had no fight left. Her soul gone, all she had was meth.

On the corner people say heres a dollar sweety. her worth less than a starbucks tea.

How do we change how do we stop and see, give her a hand, a meal,

maybe a warm place to sleep

her eyes reveal you and me stop hiding from the truth its time we see

Does anybody hear her, does anybody care? They just walk by pretending she’s not there

The next chapter she asks, “WHAT’S IT ALL FOR?”

Why bother it hurts too much to live anymore

Life on the streets no warm bed to sleep its time to change to step up and speak

We are what each other need

Change, something that rattles in her cup

50 cents or a buck

Then one day someone finally showed up

An angel a guide, she came from the shelter said your hungry and tired you should know that you matter

Do you want real change, it doesn’t jingle and its free

Take my hand I will guide you to the change that you need

. She gave her a hug and said just follow my lead

How do we change how do we stop and see, give her a hand, a meal,

maybe a warm place to sleep

her eyes reveal you and me stop hiding from the truth its time we answer the plea

We need to show up, like Ghandi , its time “To be the change we wish to see.”

How do we change how do we stop and see, give her a hand, a meal,

maybe a warm place to sleep

her eyes reveal you and me stop hiding from the truth its time we answer the plea
